The ups and downs
I just can’t resist taking photos of lily pads. Just one photo today walking round the lake whilst Gus was at hockey. It was warm and threatening to rain so the light wasn’t good for photos.

Back on the road again. Well, around the lake anyway! It was a beautiful morning and what I like about walking around the lake are the people both on the lake and sharing the pathway. Most people say hello when I greet them. The last week or so the Waka Ama crews have been training. Love their calls as they count out the strokes.

So how is it that in the southern hemisphere the first day of the season is on the 1st of the month but in the northern hemisphere the seasons change at the equinox? The first of March definitely didn’t feel like autumn here but the light this evening down the river path and the colour of the fallen leaves is certainly consistent with autumn.

A great day at Educamp Rotovegas with inspiring educators and learners. One of the things I shared was Photospheres in Google Street View. I have just discovered them and as I play am wondering how they could be used to enhance our children’s learning. Someone else said that they use them along with Google cardboard to create virtual tours of their environment, and tell stories.
This is a photo I took this evening at the trig point above Hamilton gardens when I was out walking. Hamilton Gardens on #StreetView.

A busy work day today but I made time to go out and smell the roses in the garden. Ok, this is not a rose and it has no scent but it is stunning!

The day started with bathing alternately in the hot water stream at Spa Park and the cold water of the river. Great for our tired muscles. But today’s photo is at one of our regular haunts in the Tron. Lake Rotoroa is home to plenty of very well fed ducks! I spotted these as Nigel and I walked twice round the lake. Our boys have outgrown taking bread to ducks but there is no shortage of donors on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The funniest thing happened a couple of minutes after this shot when one duck snatched a whole piece of bread and broke away from the group waddling rapidly with two more ducks in hot pursuit quacking loudly!

I am always amazed how quickly stuff grows in New Zealand. Just a week ago these plants were all leaves and a few flowers. Now they are fruiting big style! But can you spot the odd one out?

Love the summer and Lake Rotoroa in Hamilton is a gem in the city. So many families, couples, friends of all ages walking, running, chatting, laughing, sailing on a summer evening at the lake.
Oh, and these wee cuties too! All the ducky birds out in force. The moorhen mummy was viciously defending her brood as I took photos. Never heard a moorhen hiss before! Couldn’t choose so cheated and made a collage!
