Rā 10, Rātu 10 o Kohitātea 2017

Work felt more like work today with a team meeting this morning. Got carried away and forgot to stop – a bad habit which I need to break this year -so didn’t walk away from the screen until 7.30!

Just had a wander round the garden to find the pumpkin patch is looking rather triffid-like. Need to start eating pumpkins!

A day to rest my bones today. Cleaned muddy shoes, did a bit of weeding and pottering in the garden. Pleased to see the lilac bush I planted last year in flower and a monarch butterfly feasting deeply on its nectar. Big son came for tea which is always a pleasure….don’t see him often enough.

Penultimate day of the year and it was glorious; blue sky and sunshine.  Great day for a couple of circuits of Pukemokmoke.  Then chilling in the garden. So many flowers out now and the veggies are taking off (apart from the beans which seem to be a favorite of the snails!)

A sure sign of summer is the song of the cicadas.  I love it. Reminds me of the south of France.  I heard this one as I was sitting reading and liked around to see where he was.  Right on the top of the sun shade.  The sunlight glistening on his wing is beautiful.

A very productive day in the garden weeding, sweeping, pruning trees. Now ready for planting. The roses are looking pretty.

A day of sun and very heavy showers and a lot of wind.  I love walking barefoot across the grass after the rain. And I love the flowers that I can see from my office window. .. orange and yellow roses and white lily of the valley.

More from the garden. The roses are blooming madly.  Beautifully velvety and such perfect raindrops!

Watching my globe artichoke grow.  I can now see it from my office desk.  Nearly ready to eat!

More sunshine so a busy day in the garden. We also painted the front door.  Lovely to have breakfast and lunch al fresco. The cats like basking too .

It was Spring again today after Winter yesterday!  I spotted movement in the garden out of the corner of my eye – Tonks chasing a butterfly! It looks a bit battered but still beautiful.

A day spent in the garden doing a major tidy up so we can plant some veggies. It was good to free the flowers from the weeds and let them display their glory. Fruit trees are blossoming and we have a wee globe artichoke!

We also belatedly celebrated Aonghas’ birthday at our favourite Italian restaurant. I am not allowed to post photos publicly of Aonghas so today’s photo is one from the garden!
