A very frosty morning at the lake today but it was good to be able to start running in the light as the sun rose. The sharp blue sky of Hamilton gave way to increasing cloud as I flew South. Even through the murky yellowness of the plane window Ngarahoe shone resplendent enrobed in snow. It was a bumpy old descent into Wellington but the wind roared and hissed and had blown itself and the rain away before we headed out to sample the craft beer delights of Beervana.
So today’s photos tell a story of winter weather and warming beer!
On the road again… there’s a song in there somewhere! On my way to sunny Hawkes Bay and Gisborne for CLA PLD days via Wellington. Flying south means flying down the west coast – snow-capped Taranaki to my right and Ruapehu and Tongariro equally majestic robed in white.
Taranaki is just a blip on the horizon from my lofty stance but impressive.
Can never resist taking photos out of plane windows! Great light through the clouds to the sea flying into Wellington this afternoon. Edited with Snapseed.

I love taking photos out of plane windows but still don’t understand how the propellers are visible on photos when you can’t see them as they spin…. This is the view of Taranaki and the coast through the clouds.

Great evening for flying into Christchurch. Clear skies and the Kiwi beak of Farewell Spit and Golden Bay to our right. We had fun trying to spot the beaches we walked across when we did the Abel Tasman and Awaroa which has recently been bought by the NZ public to gift back to the country for all to share. What a beautiful country.

Flying out of Hamilton was clear and bright today and for the first time I could see out of the window as we flew over The Tron.

Not many photos today as it was a day of travel again. I guess this one of us touching down in the Tron after an amazing two weeks away exploring. I love travelling and exploring but it is always good to be home!
