The ups and downs
A beautiful afternoon on the trails on the Waitawheta Tramway. I’ll have to go back and do it in a more leisurely way to find out more about the history sometime. It was fun running the swing bridges and hiding in humongous tree stumps!
Starting the year off with a blast and making the most of my last few days of holidays.
26km from Poiwhenua to Arapuni Dam and back again with the Minions minus 1. (Main Minion is in Orlando about to do the Dopey Challenge – 1 crazy Minion!)
It was a beautiful day and good to get some solid training in for the Oxfam Trailwalk.
Started the day listening to the Anzac ceremony on RadioNz, then coffee and churros with Las Chicas. In the afternoon a good walk up to the tallest Kahikatea Tree in New Zealand on the Kaniwhaniwha Trails with Nigel and Gus. A great day all round.
Back on the trails today! Another adventure with the insatiable Paula. A gentle wander around the lower trails on Te Aroha. Just 11km (a tad more than we intended due to getting lost on the loopy mountain bike trails!) we even found a mine entrance.
Another great day on the trails preparing for the Oxfam Trail Walker. An ‘easy’ 28km over the hill and along the beach. Not to be – tide was higher than we expected and we walked all the way over the hill and down to the beach to find the sea lapping at the steps. Nothing left except to climb back up again and down the road to West End beach and along the sand. I could have chosen any one of the photos of the stunning views from the headland but this random photo took my fancy!

First training walk for the whole Pat and the Posties team. Only nine weeks before we walk the 100km Oxfam Trailwalk hopefully in less than 18 hours! ( Donations can be made on the oxfam trailwalk site.)
