Hamilton. Rain. That’s it! The cat couldn’t decide whether to come in or go out, so decided to sit in the flower bed.

Unsettled weather…sunny and bright to start but the wind brings heavy showers with it. They blow in quickly and violently and blow out again just the same.

This is the view from the end of Victoria Street as we sheltered..

A day of sun and very heavy showers and a lot of wind.  I love walking barefoot across the grass after the rain. And I love the flowers that I can see from my office window. .. orange and yellow roses and white lily of the valley.

Daisies. Such simple things that bring such joy. Fresh faced and cheerful even in the rain. Spotted these from my desk, the rain had stopped so I went out barefoot in the wet grass to marvel at them. And take a photo!!

A wet day in the Waikato. Hope Aonghas isn’t too wet out on his multi-sport three day event in Rotorua.  Wonder how he is getting on. I went to watch the Hillcresthigh 1sts play in the Midland Intercity Secondary Schools final and win! Great result in heavy rain.

Today’s photo is an artistic rendition of the raindrops glistening on the tree back-lit by our garden lights courtesy of the Prisma app.

The weather is wild tonight – horizontal rain, thunder, lightning and very windy. Tin roofs make it sound worse than it is – a bit like tents!  Today has been a bit like a weather sandwich…we awoke to heavy rain but by lunchtime the sky was blue,  fluffy white clouds scudded around and the sun was shining.  I was tempted out for a wee walk,  a bit of fresh air.  Not sure that nature quite knows what to make of this winter. There was definitely a touch of spring in the air.  Magnolia trees in flower, camellia bushes boasting splashes of bright colour, jonquils bursting bright yellow and birds chirping and chatting when they can in between the rain showers.

I love the delicate colours of this Hebe and its shadow on the lichen encrusted bright blue of the letterbox. (please correct me if I’m wrong and it isn’t a Hebe!)

Day 179 June 27th 2016

A day of rain. Sitting at my computer I only notice it when the sound invades, look out of the window, the sky has darkened but there is a splash of brightness, colour, pink against grey, delicate but strong, withstanding the battering of raindrops.

Day 178 June 26th 2016

Caught up with housework today – quite cathartic once I got into it.  Escaped to watch Gus play hockey in the rain.  The second of his two matches today and it was a good game. Close fought but they snatched a draw from the jaws of victory… the other team equalised in the final minute!

Day 139 May 18th 2016

More rain today, torrential but fleeting. Loving the autumn colours.

Day 137 May 16th 2016

It rained today. I mean it really rained. Not just a shower but full on stair rods, cats and dogs, persisting, really persisting, it bucketed down, estaba lloviendo a cántaros, il pleuvait des cordes, il pleuvait des seaux d’eau… and there was thunder and lightning. I love storms, real ones, especially when I’m safe and warm inside. But I have been known just to stand out in the rain and let the sweet rain drench me.  The best storms we ever watched were from our tent in the Jura, France. Violent and beautiful and terrible electrical storms, everyday for two weeks mid afternoon.  Forked lightning that split the sky.  Cleared the air, freshened the atmosphere and left us to an evening  under the stars and two highly charged children!  We had a narrow escape too…but that’s another story.
Anyway, I took some video of the lightning lightening the sky…and Aonghas practising his guitar.
