The ups and downs
After a busy week travelling around the Waikato and Bay of Plenty it was great to get out in the sunshine on to of a hill this morning!
This afternoon I finally got round to painting the bathroom!
Spring clean day today! Think I unleashed a monster … After helping me organise the living room, I found Aonghas cleaning his room… no bribes or blackmail !
On the road to Whakatane there is a tiny place called Matata. Like many small towns that have grown up along the coast line it seems quite linear. The ocean, the railway line, the road, houses. I promised myself a walk on the beach once I got to Whakatane but by the time I had time, the rain had arrived.
Taupo workshops at Wairakei Primary School. A delightful welcome from a passionate and proud kapahaka group started the day. Good, robust conversations all day, the best banana cake and friendly Tui.
First day of Strategic Thinking workshops today in Paeroa. Great discussions with challenging questions and some ‘outside the confort zone’ thinking. Carried on down to Taupo ready for tomorrow’s workshops in time for a beautiful sunset over the lake.
The official photos came through from the Tikitapu trail run today. It has also been confirmed as 24.5km rather than the advertised 23km!
Here’s me, clean and dirty, at the start in the Redwoods and at the finish at Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake).
Not feeling too sore today and very happy with 2nd place in my age group and a top half finish over all in the Tikitapu trail run.
But today was birthday dinner for Lachlan at Madame Woo’s. Even got them all to smile at the same time in one go!
A big adventure today. 23km sliding through mud. Great fun. Unfortunately, no photos of me in action, just the beginning and the end! Stunning setting for the start though and a great send off with a legend to set the scene and a haka.
