Rā 21, Rāhoroi 21 o Kohitātea 2017

The day of President Trump’s inauguration and also the start, maybe, of some mobilised resistance. The Women’s March on Washington took place today and there were 673 official ‘sister marches’ around the world. We organised, at very late notice, our own unofficial, very small march in The Tron. Tracey and I met in Garden Place and walked along Victoria Street and back in solidarity. We also had an excellent coffee in Demi-Urgo!

Hui at the CORE office Wellie today. Lots of korero and learning. The PLD process is now as clear as it can be!! Who can do it? CORE can do it!!

After the storm ….after the sunshine… Wellington in a southerly! Beautiful evening but a bit chilly!

Amazing evening at Vecta Arena experiencing the majestic performance of Nick Cave. Simple but extremely impressive backdrop and lights.

Summer is hotting up. Moved to my outdoor office today – so nice to work outdoors. Nigel and I walked to the gardens and took a detour to the river where I snapped this angler fly fishing- reckoned he caught a good size trout this morning. The boys have gone up to a concert in Auckland.  It’s a bit scary – my boys heading to the big city together!

Had a real lunchbreak today. Took my wee man (who is now significantly taller than me) for a walk into Ham East to the cafe with the best coffee.  Gus reckoned his iced coffee was the best he’d had too – real coffee, real ice-cream and no fluffy cream to disguise the real taste.

Wanted to go for a walk today but the rainforest type humidity and heat put us off. Went to the hydro pool again instead. This is the sky late afternoon – brilliant light against the dark sky. It’s freshened up a bit now  – too late for a walk though!

We have tried and failed to grow a Swan Plant big enough to withstand the voracious appetite of the Monarch caterpillars! I can’t bring myself to cull the eggs and babies. Clearly Mitre 10 can’t either! 2 plants for $8.50 complete with complementary caterpillars!

Rā 13, Rāmere 13 o Kohitātea 2017

Today’s pick…sunshine in a glass. A friend gave me some windfall grapefruit.  Delicious freshly squeezed with ice and a slice of lemon.

Summer seems to be here. My ranch sliders are open, the sun streams in and so does the noisy chirruping of the blackbirds. On  going outside to see why they are making so much noise, I find Tonks sitting nonchalantly on the fence.  She appears to be totally oblivious to the consternation she has provoked!
